Wright Brothers Institute has been recognized for its exceptional facilitation service area offerings and was approached by a commercial partner to facilitate a technical round table event. The event brought perspectives from government, academia, and industry, and was focused on testing and evaluation in the field of cybersecurity and resiliency.

Huntington Ingalls Industries, the country’s largest military shipbuilding company, recently acquired Alion Science and Technology, which became part of Huntington’s Technical Solutions division. The company was tasked with evaluating best practices in cybersecurity and resiliency.

For this specific project, event participants were helping inform best practices in testing and evaluation for its stakeholder, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS had a keen interest in hearing from others in the field, and culminating a list of best practices as well as research initiatives that would address the gaps and challenges identified during the discussion portions of the event.

Wright Brothers Institute facilitator, Rene' Meadors, helped the participants have streamlined discussions about the best practices and key takeaways from the subject matter expert briefings. In addition, through facilitated exercises and breakout sessions, WBI helped the leaders of the meetings reach their overall objectives of having documented best practices and a list of leading research initiative questions that would address the key challenges and gaps identified among the group. Steven Thorson, PhD, Director of Homeland Security Community of Best Practices and OSD Scientific Test & Analysis Techniques Center of Excellence said Rene's performance helped, "further our mission to fill gaps of best practices in test and evaluation in one of nine critical lines of effort."

The same group is hosting another round table at the end of March, and has already ask that WBI return to facilitate their follow on event.
