Wright Brothers Institute (WBI) is a cutting-edge innovation and technology commercialization center for the Air Force Research Laboratory, with facilities located just outside of WPAFB in Dayton, OH. We drive fast, agile innovation that enables successful technology development to solve the Air Force’s most complex challenges by leveraging resident experts, unique facilities, disruptive innovation processes and extensive networks.
WBI is looking to identify an Executive Director, to sustain, expand and lead the institute’s innovation and commercialization impact for the Air Force.
The Executive Director will:
Plan, develop and oversee implementation of the policies and objectives of the Institute in accordance with Board of Trustee directives and the Institute’s code of regulations.
The successful candidate should have the following skills, education and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or related discipline. Master’s Degree in Science or
Engineering, or an MBA is highly desirable.
Minimum 10 years of experience with Government and 5 years as Chief Operating Officer or another relevant role. Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
Expert knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting and risk management.
Team player at executive levels to collaborate with business units and functional partners like IT, finance, human resources, legal, etc.
Well connected with relationships of key stake holders from the regional and state-wide community.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be an exclusive U.S. Citizen.
Must be eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.
