The Department of Defense is implementing the Cyber Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) to normalize and standardize cybersecurity preparedness across the Federal Government’s Defense Industrial Base. This Collider was created to help Small Businesses better understand the CMMC process and hopefully prepare them to achieve their CMMC certification. Nearly all cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including HIPAA and CMMC, are designed to protect data that employees and corporations work with every day. Small Businesses could face civil and criminal penalties in not following correct procedures.

The Government is mandating that all businesses be eventually CMMC certified, to protect the company and the Federal Governments data. Luckily the Federal Government is giving businesses time to get their certification. Preparing companies now will help avoid time-intensive, cost-prohibitive compliance efforts.

On August 12, 2021, approximately 150 attendees logged on to learn more about these topics. HIPAA Compliance Expert Kim Dickerson from Entegrity Consulting Group and CMMC Certification Expert Dwane Moskwa, CDO Technologies, presented information to an audience of CMMC providers, as well as companies seeking those services. They discussed the CMMC certification market and how companies can avoid price gauging for services. As more companies become CMMC certified, the overall costs of compliance should fall.
